About
Raúl Reguillo Carmona
Engineer based in Madrid. I work at the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure and data engineering — currently at BASF as Senior Data Scientist and AI Architect, leading the design of a cloud-native platform that integrates supply chain data, predictive models and LLM-based assistants across production enterprise systems.
Before BASF I spent two years at Seenons in Amsterdam, as part of the Data Science team behind a circular economy platform — building anomaly detection engines, LLM-powered classification systems and forecasting models shipped into production. Earlier, at BBVA Next Technologies, I designed and deployed a real-time fraud detection pipeline processing thousands of payment events per day with sub-200ms inference. That project is probably still the most fun I've had on a deadline.
I also teach. Since 2018 I have been an Adjunct Professor at EAE Business School and Next Educacion Business School in Madrid, covering Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Python in their Master in Big Data & Business Intelligence and Master in Finance & Data Science programmes. Helping people understand AI — not just use it — is something I find genuinely rewarding, and I regularly participate in round tables and talks on the subject.
My interests gravitate toward AI, big data, semantic web technologies, and the craft of building reliable systems at scale. I hold an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and an MBA, both of which I'm convinced are more useful in combination than either is alone. I have held AWS and GCP certifications and enjoy tinkering with whatever feels interesting — including, apparently, building my own blog from scratch.
Outside of tech I write short fiction, play tennis, cook with perhaps too much enthusiasm, and read anything I can get my hands on. I have walked the Camino de Santiago twice — the second time I think mostly to prove the first wasn't a fluke.
Above all, I am a father of two — and nothing else I have done comes close. It is the biggest challenge I have ever faced, the most demanding, the most humbling, and by a long distance the most rewarding. I love you, my little minions. Can't wait to see you reading this, playing Dungeons and Dragons with us and being beaten by you in a tennis court.
